I have been using the Cafe Roma in St Peter's Street Albans for many years. It's situated near St Catherine's St and handy for the market and shops.
But under the previous long-term owners, the place was looking a little tired.
However, the new owners have given the place a much needed makeover. They offer delicious snacks, cakes, and sandwiches. Their coffees are great and there are plenty of choices of other hot and cold drinks. Their toasted mozzarella and tomato sandwich is my favourite snack if I want a quick bite to eat.. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The coffee bar has a step free access but the customer toilet facilities are up two steps at the rear of the shop.- Service

Such a lovely place for a coffee and some food. Highly recommend the pistachio latte and yes you do want the cream with it. Stuff is always super friendly and helpful even when it's busy. You can really see and feel how much better it is since the management change, it has been a while but you can see all bad reviews are from years ago.
It's a shame I don't live in St Albans or come here all that often but whenever I'm around I always pop in for a coffee.- Service

We came on a Sunday when the vintage market was on and it was very busy! However they were handling this really well. We both ordered the avocado on toast as they were sadly out of the jacket potatoes. They asked whether we wanted the garlic and chilli flakes on top and I was able to request mine without black pepper. I also order a pistachio latter which was amazing it was nice and creamy and not too sweet.
I really enjoyed my food and drink and the experience. I will be coming back to try the jacket potatoes!- Service

Love this place! The best coffee in St Albans - and Velina and her staff are always so friendly and uplifting! Nice there is now a small food menu too (excellent smashed avocado on sourdough toast). Fabulous to have this wonderful independent coffee shop; SO much better than the chains

Always stop for a coffee here. Staff are lovely and must get that from the owner. Always popular which is a good sign. Plenty of seating outdoors to people watch.

Dog friendly which is a great convenience when you travel with your little ones. Very sweet local cafe. Most of the clients are regular which makes the atmosphere homy and relaxed. Lovely team, very attentive when it comes to placing an order. At 11:00 on Saturday cafe was busy but buzzing just enough. Decent choice of pastries and light breakfast. Great capuchino

I dropped in here today for the first time. It’s a gem of a place. Great coffee and cake, and really friendly atmosphere. Simple menu but all the food looks splendid and is very reasonably priced. Please support the local independents!

Absolutely amazing service and food, the atmosphere is great and welcoming. All the team members are smiling and friendly. I enjoyed avocados on toast with the Roma omelette and a raspberry and almond bake with a cappuccino. It was fantastic! Everything is handmade and it shows; it doesn’t feel like a cafe it feels like an invite to a home. Café Roma is truly a delightful gem in St Albans—great coffee, an engaging team, and a homey feel.- Service

My hot chocolate was very nice. The staff was nicer than my hot chocolate. And the hot chocolate was something different. There was even a cat on my hot chocolate. Remember to take your lids of your drinks for a wonderful surprise.

On our cycling routes is the best place we stop every time we pass St Albans to recharge our batteries with a delicious coffee and some time we fuel our self with lovely protein bars or a slice of cake! Lovely place with great atmosphere and friendly staff!
